Project: NET PRIMARY PRODUCTIVITY (NPP)
Project: NET PRIMARY PRODUCTIVITY (NPP)NPP (net primary production) data from existing field measurements are being compiled for approximately 100 study sites covering several major world ecosystem types. These data are used by global change modelers to develop and validate models of vegetation-soil-atmosphere interactions within the global carbon cycle and to help calibrate remote sensing of vegetation worldwide
Data Set: NPP CROPLAND: GRIDDED ESTIMATES FOR THE CENTRAL U.S.A., 1982-1996
Data Set: NPP CROPLAND: GRIDDED ESTIMATES FOR THE CENTRAL U.S.A., 1982-1996Net primary productivity (NPP) of agricultural regions was estimated from crop harvested yield, as recorded in national agricultural statistics. The magnitudes and inter-annual variations in NPP of croplands in the US Mid-West were estimated using crop area and yield data from the US National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Total NPP, including estimates of both above and below-ground components, was calculated.
