Message from Assistant Secretary for Health and Surgeon General About Commissioned Corps Calls-to-Active Duty

We are pleased to announce that the pause in new calls-to-active duty has been lifted. The first list of Reserve Corps Officers on active duty waiting to be converted to the regular Corps has been transmitted through the Executive Office of the President to the Senate for confirmation. A new process has been established for calling new officers to active duty on a regular basis. We’re proud of these changes as it allows the Commissioned Corps to continue its mission to protect and advance the health and safety of the Nation with a stronger emphasis on vulnerable and medically underserved populations.

Additionally, we continue to work toward implementing the Ready Reserve Corps. In the coming months, we will have more details to share with you on the policies and procedures for appointing new members. We will also make specific, detailed information available in the coming days.

We understand there are lots of questions about the changes and we will answer them as quickly and as effectively as we can. We will soon post an FAQ document, which we hope will provide answers to most of your questions. In the interim, we encourage you to visit our official Facebook page where we will post new information as we can. If you are currently in the application process, we ask that you direct questions specific to your candidacy to your CAM.

We thank our officers for their service to the Nation and we greatly appreciate your continued support of the Commissioned Corps.
