The Lion and the Eagle was a unique meeting of f current and former Czech and Czechoslovak Ambassadors in the U.S. and their American counterparts organized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Five Czech and five U.S. envoys gathered on October 7, 2011 at the Czernin Palace in Prague. Together, they discussed Czech-U.S. relations and shared their personal memories about their years in service.

The U.S. Embassy took advantage of this historic moment and asked the U.S. Ambassadors what their stay in the Czech Republic meant to them. You can watch their answers in this video.

Five Czech and five U.S. Ambassadors participated (sorted by timeline): William H. Luers (1983–1986), Michael Žantovský (1992–1997), Alexandr Vondra (1997–2001), John Shattuck (1998–2000), Martin Palouš (2001–2005), Craig Robert Stapleton (2001–2003), William J.
