Please visit our website for complete instructions, required forms and fees.  Only two sets of pages may be added to a passport.  After that, an application for a new passport should be made, even if the passport does not expire for some time.

3. How do I register or enroll as an American Abroad?

You may enroll  with  the U.S. State Department’s online Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP). By enrolling  you will be automatically signed up to receive U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi warden messages.  Citizens should use the STEP program rather than come to the  Embassy in person.

4. How do I stop receiving Embassy messages when I leave the UAE?

There are two ways to unsubscribe from Embassy messages:

  1. You may leave the list at any time by sending a “SIGNOFFPOST_ABU_DHABI” command to LISTSERVE@CALIST.STATE.GOV
  2. Unenroll as an American living in Abu Dhabi by changing your profile in the US State Department’s online Smart Traveller Enrollement Program (STEP) at: http://abudhabi.usembassy.gov/traveler-enrollment.html.

U.S. citizens are responsible for both subscribing and unsubsribing themselves from Embassy and Consulate General message  lists. The enrollment process has been consolidated online and we do not manually remove citizens from this list.

5. What do I need to do to vote overseas?

Please visit our website for information regarding voter registration and absentee ballots: http://abudhabi.usembassy.gov/voting.html.  The U.S. Government’s main source for voting information is the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP)’s website at www.FVAP.gov.
