Family Readiness Group (FRG) and the Family Readiness Resource Center

Story by: DEP MOB Staff

Family Readiness Groups (FRG) are organized to provide mutual support for a unit's Family members. Each Family Readiness Group is affiliated with a specific military unit, Army Reserve National Guard (ARNG) Armory or United States Army Reserve (USAR) Center. The Family Readiness Group forms the third component of the Army's Family support system during deployment. Each Family Readiness Group operates during periods of normal operations, as well as, in close coordination with the affiliated unit and, if convenient, with Army Community Service (ACS) or the Reserve Component Family Program Coordinator's Office.

The Family Readiness Group also serves as an important source of inspiration, training and support to empower Army Families to increase and enhance their self-reliance. The purpose of the Family Readiness Center (FRC) is to educate and provide resources to unit staff, Family Readiness Group Leaders, and families.

Many resources are available from resource materials, to training and providing a location to hold meetings are all part of the Family Readiness Center's mission.
