Stock up on books at the Books Are Fun Fair, held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tues., Feb. 12 to Thurs., Feb. 14, 2013, in Building 549. Grab some Valentine’s gifts for your kids and/or sweetie, or treat yourself. There will be a free drawing each day so don’t forget to stop by!

Valentine’s Day Breakfast Buffet

This Valentine’s Day, join fellow R&W Club Frederick members at a special sit-down style Breakfast Buffet! Share the morning with friends and meet new people on Thurs., Feb. 14, from 7:30 to 9 a.m., in the Discovery Café (Building 549), in the cordoned off area. The menu includes either a veggie or Western style omelet; pancakes and French toast; a fruit cup; and coffee, hot tea or juice. Cost is $4, and you must be a member to participate. Send a check made payable to the R&W Club Frederick to Susie Culler, FNLCR Bldg 549, Frederick, MD 21702. Deadline to register is Mon., Feb. 11 so don’t delay!

Save the Date: Children’s Easter Party

Date: Saturday, March 23, 2013

Please watch for the flyer later this week and get ready to hop on over to Building 549 at Fort Detrick on Sat., March 23, 2013 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the Children’s Easter Party!

A minimum of 20 children are needed to register by March 8th in order for the event to proceed. Final registration is March 15th.

 

Cost is $5 per child (12 and under), $2.50 per adult (ages 13 and up). That includes, for everyone, a light breakfast of fruit, donuts, milk and coffee or tea. Children participants can enjoy a visit and photo with the Easter Bunny, a “Bunny and you” print to take home, a goody bag, games, coloring station, egg decorating, tattoo station, and more.

Save the Date: Segway Tour

Date: Sunday, April 7, 2013
Time: 9:00 to 11:00 am
Location: Washington, DC

 

R&W Club Frederick will be cruising through Washington, D.C. on a Segway Tour when the cherry blossoms are in bloom! The tour package and sites to see are being negotiated. Participants must be 16 years of age and less than 260 lbs. to participate. Minimum number of participants is eight.

 

Meeting point will be at the Old Post Office Pavilion at corner of Pennsylvania Ave NW and 11th St NW. Check out the tours on their website at http://www.segsinthecity.com/segs_in_dc.htm and send your name, number of interested participants and tour of interest to Roxanne Angell at angellr@mail.nih.gov before February 14th. After the 14th, we will lock into a specific tour and send distribute the information for official registration. Expected cost is $45 per person.

Washington Sports Center

R&W Club Frederick members are eligible to receive a 20% discount at Washington Sports Center in Bethesda, plus several other goodies – just for being a member of the R&W Club Frederick! Membership fees are $63.95 per month with the discount. Members also get $120 or more discount on initiation fee, access to all 18 Washington Sports Center Clubs, a free Personal Fitness Workout with a trainer, and a free Small Group Training Class – including Pilates Reformer.

 

Memberships are 12-month commitments and a onetime $49 processing fee still applies to all memberships. Memberships can be put on hold (frozen) or cancellable with a five-mile proof of move or a doctor’s note.

Looking for a new way to get together with family and friends; or even a new way to throw a party? Well, check out Spirited Painting! They bring the party to you. All you have to do is provide the people. There is a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50 participants per party.

Ordering Tickets from Bethesda

The following are steps for ordering and receiving tickets from Bethesda:

• Member calls R&W Bethesda to order tickets – 301-496-4600
• The Frederick Courier will pick up tickets daily from the Bethesda R&W Office and deliver to Roberta Harner in Building 426/Security Office. You will be contacted when tickets are available for pickup in Bldg. 426 Room 104. Please pick up tickets at your convenience.

Please plan ahead. The courier arrives in Bethesda at about 12:30pm and returns to Frederick around 4pm, however, there is not a guaranteed same day delivery to member before close of business.

 

Attention skiers!

Night Club Card Ski passes are once again available to R&W Club Frederick members. These passes provide unlimited skiing after 4 p.m., Monday – Saturday and after 3 p.m. on Sunday beginning on Jan. 1, 2013, at three resorts: Ski Liberty, Ski Roundtop and Whitetail.

 

Passes are available for lift tickets only; lift tickets with lessons; or lift tickets with lessons and rentals. You can also purchase a helmet at reduced prices at the time of purchase of your pass. Also available is the Advantage Card which provides additional discounts before January 1st and for daytime skiing.

 

Follow the instructions below to order the passes, and don’t forget to bring your signed liability form, which is required.
