Applying to the Data Resources Program Solicitation: Funding for the Analysis of Existing Data
In partnership, NIJ, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention annually fund proposals to reproduce or replicate original findings and to extend research by testing new hypotheses with existing data.
Funding preference is given to research that will ask compelling crime and justice questions rather than research that will further statistical methods or technical refinement of data sets.

Application Requirements
Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the entire text of the solicitation carefully before beginning the process of submitting an application for funding. Generally, the Data Resources Program (DRP) solicitation provides researchers with the opportunity to receive small grant awards to conduct secondary analysis of National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) data sets.
Data Archiving Plan
Data resulting from DRP funding (and most other NIJ funding) must be submitted to NACJD for archiving. Applicants must include a data archiving plan as part of the funding application. The plan should briefly describe:
- Anticipated manipulations of data
- Methods of documenting such manipulations
- Preparation of data for submission
