Col. John J. Conoley is currently serving as the Commander of the 136th Airlift Wing, Naval Air Station-Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Texas.
The 136th Airlift Wing is comprised of the 136th Operations Group, 136th Maintenance Group, 136th Mission Support Group, 136th Medical Group, and the 531st Air Force Band. In addition, the 136th Airlift Wing provides administrative support to the 254th Combat Communications Group. The 136th Airlift Wing is responsible for organizing, equipping and training personnel for worldwide deployment, provides combat-ready forces to combatant commanders, and supports the airlift requirements of the commander, Air Mobility Command with eight assigned C-130H aircraft.
Col. Conoley received his commission in the Air Force upon graduation from Auburn University in August 1981. He graduated from Undergraduate Navigator Training at Mather Air Force Base, California in 1982 and was assigned to the 463rd TAW at Dyess AFB, Texas. In 1991, Colonel Conoley joined the Texas Air National Guard, 181st Airlift Squadron, as the Squadron Tactics Officer. Since joining the Texas ANG, Colonel Conoley has served as Wing Tactics Officer, Tactical Deception Officer, Current Operations Officer, Standardization and Evaluation Navigator, Chief Navigator, Operations Support Flight Commander and Operations Group Commander. Colonel Conoley has also deployed in support of Operations ENDURING/ IRAQI FREEDOM serving as the Deputy Commander and Commander of the 321st Expeditionary Operations Group and the Deputy Commander of the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group. Colonel Conoley is a master navigator with over 4200 hours in the C-130.
