Training Approval Program (TAP)
The Training Approval Program (TAP), whose purpose is to validate Protective Force training for all DOE sites,
is mandated by HSS as described in DOE O 473.3 Protection Program Operations, Appendix A, Section B, Training
and Qualification. Qualification and training programs at all DOE sites must be based on criteria established
and approved by DOE. TAP is a comprehensive means of fulfilling the requirements of both DOE O 473.3 and
DOE O 470.4B, Safeguards and Security Program, Appendix B, Section 5, Safeguards and Security Training Program.
