Suicide Prevention

The VA’s theme for National Suicide Prevention Month is “Stand by Them: Help a Veteran.”

Suicide Prevention Month Theme: Stand by Them: Help a Veteran

Call to Action: Help a Veteran

Stand by Them: Help a Veteran” reflects the commitment made by Veterans’ friends, families, and communities to support those who have defended our nation. The Department of Defense has also adopted this theme and we are very excited to be working together during Suicide Prevention Month.

The following will be available during Suicide Prevention Month:

Dedicated Suicide Prevention Month Web page – Both the VeteransCrisisLine.net and MilitaryCrisisLine.net will prominently feature a link to the Suicide Prevention Month splash page, which will serve as the main entry point for Suicide Prevention Month information and materials.

Online pledge – While on the Suicide Prevention Month page, visitors will be able to pledge to stand by Veterans by learning how to recognize the signs of crisis and spreading the word about the Veterans Crisis Line. Visitors can also share the pledge via email, Twitter, and Facebook to encourage others to take the pledge and show support for Veterans.

Electronic toolkit – A toolkit for the public to download materials from the Suicide Prevention Month page such as web banners and badges, posters, fliers that can be tailored to various audiences, and social media content.
