Gradebook is a web-based program that enables DoDEA teachers to log-in to enter and view grade and attendance data for their student(s) in grades 4-12. A select group of teachers are piloting the online gradebook. Teachers that are part of this pilot will be providing access to student assignments and classroom grades through the myDATA Button Portal. It should be noted that not all teachers are participating in the grade book pilot program.
The URL to the DoDEA Teacher Aspen Gradebook is https://gbportal.dodea.edu.
All teachers have secure access to Gradebook through the use of an Internet web browser. Teachers use the grade book to enter assignments, grades, and to maintain grade calculations.
Gradebook is just one of DoDEA's continuous improvement initiatives designed to ensure highest student achievement. When parents have timely information about student progress and are involved in the education of their student, the entire learning environment is improved. Gradebook enhances that all-important connection between home and the school.
Pilot Schools
The following DoDEA schools will be participating in the pilot. A phased deployment for all DoDEA will take place no later than school year 2013 – 2014.
Old Practice: Teachers are able to e-mail progress reports to parents through GradeSpeed.
New Practice: Teachers no longer have to e-mail progress reports to parents. Parents now have the ability to view grades at any time using the myDATA Button Portal.
Old Practice: Parents could logon onto GradeSpeed to view their child's academic life regardless of location.
New Practice: Only DoDEA teachers will be permitted to login to the Aspen Gradebook. Parents will be able to see the grades using the myDATA Button Portal.
Gradebook makes communication between parents and teachers easier, more effective and timely. Since Gradebook is web-based, the program can be accessed by DoDEA teachers from anywhere.
