H. Keith Lesnick
A Chicago native, Keith Lesnick started his career in government as an assistant to an Illinois Congressman where he served as Chief of Staff and Staff Director of the House Merchant Marine Subcommittee. He came to the Department of Transportation in 1995 to work as the U.S. Maritime Administrator’s Special Assistant. Since late September 2008 he has served as the Maritime Administration’s Associate Administrator for Intermodal System Development.
In this capacity Mr. Lesnick directs a national port infrastructure modernization program in excess of $1.3 billion – a program that includes TIGER discretionary funds. He is also responsible for the development of the marine highway initiative designed to mitigate landside congestion, improve environmental sustainability, and expand waterborne freight and passenger capacity. He also manages the Agency’s offshore energy licensing projects (the Deepwater Port Program), and oversees the Secretary of Transportation’s Marine Transportation System Advisory Council and their efforts to integrate waterborne transportation into the overall national transportation system planning process.
Mr. Lesnick has been involved with the maritime industry for over 20 years. His industry experience is extensive and includes establishing legislation, policy implementation, and oversight of regulatory compliance.
