Immigrant Visa Fees

All fees may be subject to change without notice and are non-refundable.

All U.S. consular fees worldwide are established in U.S. dollars (USD). For some common consular services we have listed the Australian dollar (AUD) equivalent below. The exchange rate is adjusted periodically. The amount is based on the current fee and the exchange rate on the day of the interview.

The Consular exchange rate changed as of May 12, 2011.

The Consulates General do not, under any circumstances, accept cash sent through the mail.

The current schedule of fees is as follows:

K1, K2, K3 & K4 Applicants

K visa applicants pay an application fee like any other nonimmigrant visa applicant. The current application fee for the K visa is USD $240.00. (The AUD equivalent is $240.00).

This fee can is payable online by Credit Card or payable to Australia Post in cash or EFTPOS. Please refer to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/au/au-niv-paymentinfo.asp for further information on payment options. Bring the receipt for this payment to your interview.

Description of forms of payment

Cash

The Consulates in Sydney and Melbourne accept cash in either Australian or U.S. Currency.

Change is available for Australian currency, but not available in U.S. currency.

Cash payments sent via email will not be accepted under normal circumstances.

Postal Money Orders & Bank Checks

The Consulates in Sydney and Melbourne accept money orders in Australian dollars and bank checks in either Australian or U.S. currency, payable to “U.S. Consulate General.” The Consulate in Perth does not accept postal money orders or bank checks in U.S. currency. Any bank check must specify in which currency it is payable.

Australia Post offers postal money orders in Australian dollars only. Please refer to the Australia Post website for further information regarding money orders. Payments made or received in Australian dollars are subject to the current official exchange rate which is subject to change without notice.

Personal or company checks will not be accepted.

Please note that the Consulates cannot accept U.S. dollar bank checks from the National Australia Bank (NAB), Suncorp or Deutsche Bank. Please note that our inability to accept U.S. dollar checks from these financial institutions is due exclusively to processing delays and no other reason.

Credit Card

Credit Card payments are accepted at all Consulates General and must be tendered in person.

We accept Visa, Master Card, and American Express.

Please note that credit cards with a name containing an apostrophe (e.g., O’Malley) or characters other than letters may not process through our system. If the name on your card contains an apostrophe or other character, please be prepared to make another form of payment if your card is declined by our system.

All credit card transactions are processed in the United States in U.S. dollars. The actual amount charged to your credit card will reflect the bank's exchange rate and, possibly, a transaction fee.
