TUESDAY, OCT. 2: The American Consulate would like to remind Bermudians that they are eligible to apply to the U.S.-U.K. Educational Commission (Fulbright Commission) for a Fulbright award if they hold a U.K. passport and are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. The application deadline for the U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Awards for 2013-14 is November 15, 2012.
Created by treaty on September 22, 1948, the Fulbright Commission fosters mutual cultural understanding through educational exchange between both nations through the prestigious Fulbright Awards Program. This year the Commission has made extensive changes to the application procedure and timeline. It has also significantly increased the value of the awards and introduced a number of new award categories, including:
Elsevier Meta-analysis Postgraduate Award
Leon Jaworski International Law Postgraduate Award
State Street Financial Services Postgraduate Award
American Studies Early Career Scholar Award
Lloyds of London Insurance Scholar Award
Saltire British Entrepreneur Scholar Award
Postgraduate awards now fully cover tuition fees and provide a living stipend for one academic year. Scholar awards include grants intended as a contribution towards any institutional fees, travel to/from the U.S., accommodation and general maintenance costs while in the United States. A number of memberships and sickness and accident benefits coverage are also included.
