Intern Programs
The
Northeast Regional
Office and the Northeast Fisheries Science Center typically host a
variety of internship opportunities throughout the region during the
summer months. The Northeast Fisheries Science Center hosts the Bradford E. Brown Student Internship Program, which culminates in a Student/Intern Symposium. Internships topics can span a wide range of subjects such as shellfish genetics and breeding, to an online library database for documents important to the history of the organization within the local community, to studying the distribution patterns of coastal fish species using laboratory and field techniques. The Northeast Regional Office hosts a summer intern program, which is designed to provide internship opportunities to groups historically underrepresented in the field of conservation and natural resource management. Each year, mentors and other volunteers from the summer student internship committee make this 10-week program a success, planning field trips and seminars, and working with the students on presentations that they can build on back at school.
