...FLOOD POTENTIAL... 
SIGNIFICANT RAIN IS EXPECTED NEAR SEA LEVEL OVER NORTHERN SOUTHEAST 
FROM YAKUTAT TO SITKA ON SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY.  HEAVY SNOW IS 
EXPECTED AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THIS REGION.  THE RAIN MAY CAUSE 
LOCAL PONDING PROBLEMS... BUT FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. 

FLOOD POTENTIAL FOR THE REST OF ALASKA IS LOW AT THIS TIME. 

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION... 
THE PATTERN HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVE OVER THE PAST WEEK.

THE CURRENT UPPER LEVEL PATTERN HAS A RIDGE FROM THE NORTH PACIFIC 
INTO BRITISH COLUMBIA AND THE GULF... A NARROW TROUGH WITH SEVERAL 
EMBEDDED LOWS CURVING FROM A LOW NEAR THE CANADIAN ARCHIPELAGO TO 
THE BERING STRAIT THEN TO THE EASTERN ALEUTIANS AND ON TO A LOW IN 
THE NORTH PACIFIC... AND ANOTHER RIDGE FROM THE NORTH PACIFIC OVER 
THE WESTERN BERING AND ON NORTHWARD ACROSS EASTERN SIBERIA.  THE 
NORTH GULF LOW WILL MOVE TO THE AKPEN BY SATURDAY MORNING... AS THE 
ASSOCIATED FRONT DEVELOPS A SUBTROPICAL CONNECTION.  AS THE FRONT 
MOVES EASTWARD IT WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION (RAIN NEAR 
SEA LEVEL, SNOW AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS) TO NORTHERN SOUTHEAST SATURDAY 
AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY.

LONG RANGE FORECASTS SHOW THE PATTERN CONTINUES TO BE BASICALLY 
PROGRESSIVE THROUGH NEXT WEEK. 

...SNOW PACK... 
OVER THE PAST WEEK SNOW DEPTHS INCREASED OVER MOST OF SOUTHCENTRAL 
ALASKA... WHILE SNOW DEPTHS GENERALLY HAD LITTLE CHANGE OVER THE 
REST OF THE MAINLAND.

...RIVER ICE THICKNESS...
THE EARLY FEBRUARY ICE THICKNESS REPORTS WERE GENERALLY BETWEEN 18 
AND 34 INCHES IN THE EASTERN INTERIOR AND IN SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA.  
ICE THICKNESS REPORTS WERE BETWEEN 39 AND 46 INCHES AT BETHEL... 
LAKE MINCHUMINA... EAGLE... AND COLVILLE VILLAGE.

...LONG RANGE... 
THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED CHANCES OF BELOW 
NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE YUKON DELTA... SEWARD PENINSULA... AND 
THE NORTHWEST MAINLAND AND INCREASED CHANCES OF ABOVE NORMAL 
TEMPERATURES OVER THE KENAI PENINSULA... THE COPPER RIVER BASIN... 
AND SOUTHEAST ALASKA.  THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS 
INCREASED CHANCES FOR ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE ENTIRE 
STATE.

THE ONE MONTH TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK FOR FEBRUARY HAS INCREASED CHANCES 
FOR WARMER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER SOUTHCENTRAL... THE CENTRAL 
AND EASTERN INTERIOR... COPPER RIVER BASIN... AND SOUTHEAST ALASKA.  
THE ONE MONTH PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK FOR FEBRUARY HAS INCREASED 
CHANCES FOR WETTER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS OVER THE WESTERN MAINLAND 
AND NORTH SLOPE.
