The Public Affairs Office gives the Fort Sill and garrison commanders advice and support in the areas of community support, community relations, media relations and command information.

All news media representatives planning to cover events on Fort Sill must be escorted by a member of the post's Public Affairs Office. Call 580-442-2521 to request a PAO escort, email your request to SILLPAOMEDIA@mail.mil or fax your request to 580-355-6756. Members of the news media with a personal affiliation with the military (spouse or family member) and a DoD car decal must call the PAO at the numbers above for escort when reporting. Due to the limited number of PAO staff members available as escort, media should request escort support as far in advance as possible. In case of emergency after duty hours, media should call 580-917-7960 or 580-917-2663.

As a responsible neighbor and government installation, Fort Sill provides the maximum support to local governments and groups that is allowable by law. If you are willing to pay for gasoline and other applicable fees for personnel or equipment in support of your group, feel free to request that support by calling our community relations specialist at 580-442-3024/4500. Note that we take 90 days lead time for community support, so if your event is less than 90 days away, we probably will not be able to support it.

The PAO has several available outlets for disseminating information throughout post in support of the commanding general's goals. The Fort Sill Cannoneer newspaper, published by Lawton Publishing Company, has a long and award-winning reputation for excellence in our community and has a circulation of 12,000 copies per week. Story ideas or photos can be submitted to cannoneersill@conus.army.mil. The Cannoneer has a Facebook page (click here) where stories, photos and updates can be found. The public can also download high-resolution photos that appeared in the Cannoneer on Flickr. The PAO publishes the Fort Sill internet Web page, which routinely receives over 9,000 visits a week. Story ideas and/or photos can be submitted to SILLPAOWEB@conus.army.mil. Articles submitted to the Webmaster will routinely be posted to other media sites, such as Flicker, Facebook and Twiter, for example.
