140th Wing Airman & Family Readiness Program

Welcome to the Airman & Family Readiness Program Page! The A&FRP provides support and resources to members and families of the Colorado Air National Guard by developing and executing policies, programs, and processes that enhance individual, family, and community readiness. The Airman & Family Readiness Program Manager reports directly to the Wing Commander to determine the vision and framework for the program and partners with the State Family Program Office on all Joint efforts including Key Volunteer training, Marriage Enrichment, Yellow Ribbon Reintegration, Personal and Financial Counseling, and Financial Assistance. Deployment cycle support is provided via individualized pre-deployment briefs, monthly well calls, Wing socials, and Key Volunteer sponsorship. In addition, the A&FRP collaborates with local community agencies to build and maintain support for the military. From recruitment to retirement, we are here for you!

The Airman & Family Readiness Program Office is located in building 801, room N-259 on Buckley Air Force Base.

tabDeployment Information & Resources
The A&FRP Office keeps an Emergency Family Profile Sheet on record while you're deployed. You're more than welcome to print this off and fill it out prior to your deployment, or fill it out when you out-process through our office.

Do you need vehicle storage while you're deployed? ADKOS might work for you.

Daddy Dolls are for the Little Ones missing their mom or dad while they're deployed. Daddy Dolls offers dolls, dog tags, pillows/pillow cases, and more! All come with a printed picture of their deployed parent printed on the product.

Our Military Kids will help pay for sports, fine arts, or tutoring programs while you or your spouse is deployed overseas. The requirements? Must be deployed for at least 120 days and have at least 30 days left on your orders when applying. This assistance is available for children ages 3-18 as long as the child is still in school.

Is your child experiencing challenges during a military deployment? The highly interactive website,www.MilitaryKidsConnect.org, created by psychologists at the DoD's National Center for Telehealth and Technology, helps children of deployed parents cope with the stress, changing responsibilities, and concern for the safety of their parents.

The American Red Cross links members of the U.S. Armed Forces with their families during a crisis. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, the Red Cross quickly sends emergency communications to deployed service members on behalf of their family. Military members can have peace of mind knowing that when they are on a mission, in training or stationed far from home-and leaving cell phones and emails behind-they are still connected to home. tabYellow Ribbon
The purpose of the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is to provide informational events and activities to members of the Colorado National Guard and their families when the Member has deployed for 90 days or more during a fiscal year. The Yellow Ribbon team facilitates access to the numerous services supporting the health and well being of our service members.

During the pre-deployment phase, emphasis is placed on the readiness and education of service members and their families.

The post-deployment phase focuses on the reintegration process, education benefits, continued health care options as well as reconnecting with family members.

Activities will ensure service members and their families understand the benefits and resources available to them throughout the entire deployment cycle.

tabKey Volunteer Team
A Key Volunteer Team (KVT) is a command sponsored volunteer organization of Service members, civilian employees, Family members (immediate and extended) and volunteers belonging to a unit. KVTs are normally organized at the Wing and Unit level, and fall under the responsibility of the unit's commanding officer.

Ideally, all units will sponsor a KVT as an avenue of mutual support and assistance, and as a network of communications among the family members, the chain of command, chain of concern, and community resources. The KVT also provides feedback to the Command on the state of the unit "Family" and is considered a unit commander's program.

Each unit in the COANG has its own KVT, which is comprised of the Commander, First Sergeant, Unit Coordinator, and Key Volunteer. To find out who your Unit Coordinator/Key Volunteer is, please click here.
