Disclosure Data Weblog

As we reach the first regular financial filing day of 2011 for campaign committees - reports that cover from January 1 through March 31 - take a look at the new campaign finance maps we're presenting at www.fec.gov.

The information gets updated each day to include summary information from reports we receive by 7 pm the day before.  So, e.g., tomorrow the House/Senate map will show totals from reports we receive through 7 pm today.  Remember that Senate candidates still file paper reports first with the Secretary of the Senate --- those totals will appear in the map data as we receive and process them (i.e. manually entering the data again for reports that almost surely began as data but which the Senate prohibits from being officially submitted electronically).

We don't have a 2012 Presidential map active yet because we don't yet have reports from candidates who formally registered as candidates for 2012 prior to the end of March.  If we get reports from candidates who meet this and some other requirements, we'll present those data with the same contributor search and other capabilities you see in the 2008 version.

What's next?  As the details from the new filings are processed we'll begin building and making available files of House and Senate candidate disbursements, just like the 2010 versions you can find in our data catalog now.
