Your Korean War Stories

March 22, 2010

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War and the U.S. Embassy is collecting stories that capture the human angle of the Korean War.

Submissions should include essays, oral and written interviews with surviving relatives and others who directly experienced the war or its aftermath (including reconstruction).  Video, audio and written testimonies are particularly welcome.  Accompanying photos would also be appreciated; photo captions should include as much identifying information as possible (date, location, description of the scene, identity of individuals if known, photographer, etc.)

Selected interviews will appear on a special web site the Embassy is constructing to remember the war.  Persons submitting interviews must also include written permission from the interviewee for the submission and posting.  A short biography and photo of the person being interviewed would also be welcome.  Prizes will be given to especially outstanding interviews.

Submissions should be made by April 25, 2010.  Please send your submissions (with your contact information) to e-mail address:
usembassyseoul@hanmail.net or mailing address: U.S. Embassy Seoul Public Affairs Section (Cafe USA), # 10, Namyoung-dong, Yongsan-gu.  For questions please call 02 397 4637.
