Privacy Act Systems of Records

A system of records is a group of any records under the control of any agency from which information is retrieved by the name of the individual or by some identifying number, symbol or other identifier assigned to the individual. The Privacy Act requires each agency to publish notice of its systems of records in the Federal Register. This notice is generally referred to as a system of records notice (SORN).

ONR uses a combination of SORNs including government-wide systems, the Department of Defense, DoN and some applicable to ONR only. These notices can be accessed online at http://dpclo.defense.gov/privacy/ by clicking “SORNS” on the blue banner. A local system manager is listed for all systems where a local manager is available.

ONR provides a listing of local systems managers online: Download the complete document.
