CARE TEAMS are families helping families in specific crisis situations (e.g. serious injury or death). Care Team members are trained to help others in crisis--emotionally and practically.
Care Teams are compassionate volunteers from the whole Air Force Family (family members, active duty, civilians, contractors & guardsmen) to help the entire Air Force Family (civilians, contractors, families & single Airmen).
Care Teams are a new initiative from Pacific Air Forces and Eielson is developing the program. Here are some basic answers to frequently asked questions

· Answer phones, screen calls and visitors
· Arrange help with household matters, reschedule appointments, run errands, and provide meal support
· Babysit or make temporary childcare arrangements
· Keep a log of your questions for the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) or Unit Commander
· Provide transportation and/or accompany family to local medical/rehabilitation facility
· Assist visiting family members and friends with installation access and/or lodging

· Make funeral arrangements
(i.e., handled by FLO and unit)
· Provide information about benefits or entitlements
(i.e., handled by the FLO and unit leadership)
· Offer any type of counseling
Care Team volunteers are not trained as grief counselors. Rather, they provide help and comfort.

|
No, it is optional. You will be asked if you wish to receive this support, which is provided by the unit or wing. If you accept, a small group of trained Care Team members, composed of spouse volunteers, will be sent to assist and support you and your family for about 72 hours to 2 weeks until extended family arrives. Regardless of whether you accept or decline a Care Team, your family will still receive assistance from the unit and others. |

A Hospitality Team does not come into contact with grieving family but assists them by doing things like walking the dog, mowing the lawn and bringing meals. |
