Trends on Tuesday: Smartphone Ownership

Mobile Phone MapComscore just released data that shows the majority of people in the U.S. who own mobile devices, own smartphones.

As of the last day of September, 234 million Americans used mobile devices.

For the three month average period ending September 2012, 119.3 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones. That amounts to 51.0 percent of total mobile market penetration.

The increasing use of smartphones by Americans will continue to change the interaction government has with those it serves. Agencies can explore how other agencies have approached the growing ubiquity of mobile through these stories.
