Welcome to the USGS Lafayette Branch Library

This branch of the USGS Library collection covers natural science topics with a focus on the biological sciences. Holdings support research in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, ecology, habitats, plant communities, soil science, climate science, and limnology with an emphasis on domestic and international wetlands. Special collections include the Robert G. Wetzel Collection in wetland ecology and limnology, the Jacob Valentine Archival Collection covering historical wildlife refuges located in Louisiana and Mississippi, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Biological Service, and USGS Biological Resources Discipline reports. The library is located in the National Wetlands Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Robert G. Wetzel Collection
Wetland Ecology and Limnology

The Robert G. Wetzel Collection, established in 2006 at the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Wetlands Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, contains some 1500 books and 60 journal titles, primarily in English but in several other languages, including Russian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.  To browse catalog records of items held in the collection, follow this hyperlink:
