About the Program

Training has long been a key component of the U.S. Government’s development program in Indonesia.  The support of foreign exchange students in American universities has been and continues to be a powerful tool in creating a greater understanding between our two countries, and the building of leadership skills.

The tradition of using scholarship programs to educate future leaders and foster mutual understanding between the people of Indonesia and America continues to be a high priority of the U.S. Government.  USAID/Indonesia plans to support the tradition through its participant training program, which will provide scholarships for academic degrees and the creation of an alumni association.  The participant training program is structured in a way that will help individuals acquire the knowledge, skills, and the capacity to support Indonesia’s development and the achievement of USAID Mission objectives.

PRESTASI will continue to support the tradition of participant training and human capacity development by providing opportunities for advanced academic degrees in the U.S. and Indonesia. The program will build on the successes of its predecessor - The Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) program, also known as the Participant Training Program- , which provided 162 participants short term opportunities and 159 participants longer term opportunities for Masters and PhD studies in programs in the U.S., Indonesia, and third countries.
