Senator Boxer: Celebrating the Lunar New Year

Friday, February 8, 2013

Dear Friend:

In the coming days, families will celebrate the Lunar New Year, one of the most important holidays in many Asian cultures, which falls on February 10th in 2013 – the Year of the Snake.

The Lunar New Year is a time for families to come together.  Communities around the globe mark this celebratory occasion by gathering with loved ones, paying respects to elders and ancestors, and reflecting on the past.  It is also a time to look toward the future with a sense of hope and renewal.

As people come together to celebrate the diverse history and cultures of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in California and across the nation, I offer warm wishes to all for a happy, healthy, and auspicious Lunar New Year.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer, US Senator, California
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
