What is VA for Vets?
VA for Vets is a comprehensive program that helps Veterans launch or advance their civilian careers at VA. From dynamic job searches and military skills translation to professional development and reintegration support and one-on-one coaching—there is something for every Veteran through VA for Vets.

Why has VA invested in VA for Vets?
VA for Vets is part of VA’s enterprise-wide initiative aimed at creating a people-centric, results-driven and forward-looking workforce committed to providing improved services to Veterans. Secretary Shinseki recognizes that Veterans understand the needs and experiences of fellow Veterans better than anyone else. Therefore, he is striving to increase the number of Veteran employees at VA through VA for Vets.

What sets VA for Vets apart from other Veteran career support programs is that it offers all-encompassing career solutions—from finding the right VA job matched to military background to receiving one-on-one reintegration support from a coach. VA for Vets goes one step further by offering a wealth of employer support resources for VA’s supervisors and HR professionals involved in the hiring and deployment processes. All of these tools are available through one centralized website anytime, from anywhere in the world.

How do I create for a VA for Vets account?
First, register for an account. You’ll need to provide your name and a valid email address. Once you register for an account, you may begin to use the Career Center tools.

Which email should I use to create my VA for Vets account?
Provide your permanent, primary email address when you create your VA for Vets account. Once you create your account, you won't be able to change your email address. VA for Vets discourages the use of military or current employer email addresses because you may not always have access to those accounts.

I’ve created an account, but I no longer have access to the email address I used to register my account.  Can I create a new account using a different email address?
Yes, but the new account won't contain any information from your old account (including resumes or self- assessment results).

What if I do not understand the CAPTCHA question?
For security reasons, you will be asked to answer a CAPTCHA question when:
  • Creating a new account
  • Submitting feedback through “Contact Us”
  • Resetting your account password
Answers to the CAPTCHA questions may not always seem immediately obvious.  The questions are generally straight forward requiring a generally non-complicated answer.   For example, you may be asked, “If a person is called James, what is their name?”  The answer in this case would simply be “James,” without the quotes.  Questions requiring number answers may seem more complex. For example, you may be asked, “What is twenty thousand four hundred and seventy six as a number?”  The answer in this case is “20,476” without quotes.   Each time you submit an incorrect answer, you will have the opportunity to answer a different CAPTCHA question.  If you have attempted to answer several times without success, please call the Technical Support Center for assistance at 1-855-824-8387 and select option 3.

What is a DS Logon?
The Department of Defense (DoD) Self-Service Logon (DS Logon) is a secure, self-service logon ID that allows DoD/VA affiliates and Veterans to access several websites using a single username and password.
You may choose to link your VA for Vets account to another current DS Logon account when you create a new account. You can also link your VA for Vets account to another current DS Logon account at a later time by following these steps:
  • Log into your VA for Vets account.
  • Select “Account Management” in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
  • Select “Link With DS Logon.”
