WIESBADEN, GERMANY — November 8, 2012 — The Department of Defense Dependents Schools Europe announced the selection of Dr. Elizabeth Dunham as the new Bavaria District Superintendent. Dunham is currently the Assistant Superintendent in the Kaiserslautern District, a position she had held since August 2008.

She will be responsible for the organization, operation, administration, assessment, and support of schools within the district. And will also provide direct supervision and broad professional leadership in designing and implementing programs to increase student achievement within the Bavaria District.

One of her main tasks will be managing the ongoing military service transformation efforts in the Bamberg, Schweinfurt and Grafenwoehr communities.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to lead the Bavaria District and the incredible communities it serves," Dunham said. "I am looking forward to this new challenge and opportunity. There is no greater reward than serving our military families. I'm looking forward to collaborating with the administrators, educators and staffs in the district to ensure we continue to provide a world class education for our students."

Dr. Nancy Bresell, the DoDDS-Europe director said Dunham is the right person for the job.

"Elizabeth brings a wealth of educational knowledge and experience to our team from inside and outside our system," she said. "Throughout her career, she has repeatedly demonstrated excellence and shown an unwavering commitment to our students, staffs, schools and communities."
