Schedule of Vice President Biden's Trip to Europe

VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN, DR. JILL BIDEN TRAVEL TO GERMANY, FRANCE, AND THE UNITED KINGDOM

 

The Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden have departed for Berlin, Germany, the first stop on a five-day trip to Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. In each country, the Vice President will meet with key leaders to discuss a full range of bilateral, regional and global issues. While in Berlin, the Vice President will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. While in Munich, the Vice President will deliver remarks at the Munich Security Conference, which he addressed in 2009 at the outset of the Administration’s first term. The Vice President will also meet with other international leaders while in Munich. The Vice President and Dr. Biden will then visit Landstuhl, Germany, where they will visit the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

The Vice President and Dr. Biden will also visit Paris and London. In Paris, the Vice President will meet with President François Hollande. In London, the Vice President will meet with Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and other members of the Cabinet.

Friday, February 1st – Berlin, Germany

 The Vice President and Dr. Biden’s arrival in Berlin at Berlin-Tegel International Airport at 8:00 AM LOCAL TIME/2:00 AM ET is open press.

 At 3:00 PM LOCAL TIME/9:00 AM ET, the Vice President will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the German Chancellery. The Vice President and Chancellor Merkel’s statements at the top of this meeting will be pooled press.

 Afterwards, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will depart Berlin en route Munich, Germany. Their arrival at Munich International Airport at 6:05 PM LOCAL TIME/12:05 PM ET is open press.

 Dr. Jill Biden:

 At 3:00 PM LOCAL TIME/9:00 AM ET, Dr. Biden will meet with current U.S. participants and German alumni of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX). This event is open press.

Saturday, February 2nd – Munich, Germany

  At 9:20 AM LOCAL TIME/3:20 AM ET, the Vice President will deliver remarks at the Munich Security Conference at the Bayrische Hof Hotel. These remarks are open press. Audio of the Vice President’s speech will be streamed live to www.WhiteHouse.gov/Live.  

In the afternoon, the Vice President will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Later in the afternoon, the Vice President will meet with Joint Arab League–United Nations Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Afterwards, the Vice President will meet with President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition Moaz al-Khatib. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Later, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will meet with U.S. Consulate staff and families in Munich. This event is closed press.

At 7:45 PM LOCAL TIME/1:45 PM ET, the Vice President will attend a dinner hosted by Bavarian Minister-President Horst Seehofer in honor of Lieutenant General Brent Scowcroft at the Residenz Museum. The Vice President’s signing of the Golden Book and his toast remarks at this event will be pooled press.

 

Dr. Jill Biden:

On Saturday, February 2nd, Dr. Biden will visit soldiers and their families at the Joint Multinational Training Command (JMTC) in Grafenwoehr. The Grafenwoehr military community is the second largest in Europe. Portions of the visit will be open press.

Sunday, February 3rd – Landstuhl, Germany

In the morning, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will visit Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. This visit will be closed press.

Later, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will depart Landstuhl, Germany, en route Paris, France.

In the evening, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will arrive in Paris. The arrival at Paris Orly Airport is open press.

Monday, February 4th – Paris, France

In the morning, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will meet with U.S. Embassy staff and families in Paris. This event is closed press.

Afterwards, the Vice President will travel to the Presidential Palace. The Vice President’s arrival to and departure from the Presidential Palace are open press.

At 1:00 PM LOCAL TIME/7:00 AM ET, the Vice President will meet with French President François Hollande. The Vice President and President Hollande’s statements at this meeting will be pooled press.

Later, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will depart Paris, France, en route London, United Kingdom.

The Vice President and Dr. Biden’s arrival in London at London Standsted Airport at 4:15 PM LOCAL TIME/11:15 AM ET is open press.

Tuesday, February 5th –London, United Kingdom

In the morning, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will meet with U.S. Embassy staff and families in London. This event is closed press.

Afterwards, the Vice President will travel to 10 Downing Street. The Vice President’s arrival to and departure from 10 Downing Street are open press.

At 12:00 PM LOCAL TIME/7:00 AM ET, the Vice President will meet with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg. There will be a limited pool spray at the top of this meeting.

At 1:15 PM LOCAL TIME/8:15 AM ET, the Vice President will meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron and attend a working lunch meeting. There will be a limited pool spray at the top of this meeting.

Afterwards, the Vice President will attend a meeting of the United Kingdom National Security Council. There will be a limited pool spray at the top of this meeting.

In the evening, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will depart London, United Kingdom, en route Washington, DC.
