The Army Learning Management Systems (ALMS) is the official source of training for GCSS-Army. Please follow the instructions in this guide in order to register for and take the GCSS-Army WBT offerings. Note that new students should take the first four courses (Overview, Basic Navigation, Intermediate Navigation and Using Reports), followed by other courses in their functional area. The entire curriculum has been made available for ease of use.
As of late 2012, registration into the GCSS-Army WBT on the ALMS is the student’s responsibility, and is no longer dependent upon an e-mail request to the LMS Administrator. Students following the instruction in Part II of this Guide will be able to register for all courses, take the requisite exams, and print their Certificate of Completion without outside assistance. The LMS Administrator remains available to answer questions, resolve problems, investigate errors, and generate periodic reports on students’ progress.
Please also note these items:
- You only need to register for the courses ONCE. Once registered, classes will appear under Current Enrollments on the ALMS home page. Please do not enroll multiple times.
- If the enrollment instructions in Part 2, Registering for WBT Courses on p.17-23 do not work as indicated, please try the steps below:
First, the arrow icon to the left of the enrollment has been replaced with the more common plus (+) or minus(-) sign. The user will use the plus sign to expand the displayed enrollment. In some cases it may be necessary to click additional plus signs but this change greatly reduces the number of pages a user will have to navigate through in order to find a course that may be at the bottom of his or her enrollments. By default, all courses on the enrollments page will be collapsed. As a result you may not see a launch button until you expand the course listing by clicking on the plus icon. Again, it may be necessary to click on additional plus signs. Once clicked, the listing will be expanded and the plus sign will be replaced with a minus sign. If a user wishes to collapse an expanded listing, they need only click the minus sign and the listing will collapse.
For problems with ALMS system, call the ALMS Help Desk at (877) 251-0730. Please tell the CSR that your Role and Audience Type were set to GCSS-Army-All.
Please give the simulations adequate time to open. 60-90 seconds may be required, based on network load. You may proceed when the word “Training” appears in the simulations window.
