Rapid Response Manufacturing

At Rock Island Arsenal in addition to our conventional production capacities we can also satisfy low volume, high mix or hard to acquire manufactured parts that are needed to support current and future combat systems. Our self contained Rapid Response Manufacturing Cell is designed for fast and economical production of small quantities of parts that fit a one cubic foot or three inch diameter by 36 inch length bar stock envelope.

We can electronically accept part requirements in a variety of graphic or CAD formats and we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Within five days, a consumer can expect an estimate. Deliveries are usually made within 30 days. The most expeditious factor is that our Rapid Manufacturing cell is designed as a stand alone operation allowing us to complete a project, start to finish in one building and all under Department of Army control. With management priorities in effect for the entire production cycle, our consumers can expect a 75% timesaving factor.

We have staffed and equipped the RRMC with specialized employees, 10,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and 30 machines that can machine most metals including titanium. With our CAD/CAM and integrated computer aided design we have excellent process development capabilities maintaining efficient electronic file handling.

One success story of RRMC is "MK 19" windage screws. This product was an urgent need of joint warfighters. The screws were made for the ML 19 site base. The funding for the project was accepted on June 8, 2004 and the delivery of the 300 screws was made on June 22,2004, 16 days ahead of schedule.
