Destination Schweinfurt

Welcome to Schweinfurt!

Your Army Community Service Center wants to make sure that Schweinfurt is the best destination in the Army. That is why we would like to invite you to our newcomers series entitled "Destination Schweinfurt". This series contains 10 programs which you can pick and choose from. Each program is designed to address a different subject new members of our community will find helpful.

Pick up your itnerary for a great beginning in our wonderful community by stopping by Army Community Service in Building 242 on Ledward Barracks Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to sign up for the sessions that are right for your situation. You may also get more information about Destination Schweinfurt at the Meet and Greet sessions held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Bradley Inn Kitchen.     Join us as we: Tour the Schweinfurt Health and Dental Clinics and the Military Police Station.
    Meet representatives from the Chapel and Military Family Life Consultant Program to find out what they can do for you. Receive a Force Protection Brief. Find out what the Employees Assistance Program offers Military Spouses and DoD Civilians in Schweinfurt. Learn how to contact the Fire department and ambulance service.

    You have probably already figured out… you’re not in Kansas anymore. Demystify the daily dos and don’ts of living in Germany to include: garbage and recycling, what building and area coordinators are and what they do for you, your rights and obligations as a tenant on the German economy and in on-post housing , where you can get replacement household items for free (SHIP Store), and what to do if you have a problem with your landlord.

    If your family includes children, this program will help get you tuned into the many services and activities Schweinfurt has to offer you.  Find out the inside information about and visit : Women, Infants and Children – Overseas (WIC), Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS), New Parent Support Program, Family Advocacy, the Child Development Center, the School Age Center, the Youth Center, FCC Homes, the Elementary/Middle School and High School and Child and Youth Services Parent Central Service.

    Do you know what to do if you get in a traffic accident? Do you know where your ESSO card works – or even what one is? If you plan to drive while in Germany let us help you get started. During the class you will get an introduction to everything from registering a car to getting an international drivers license. After lunch you can get together with others for the Drivers test study group.

    A walking tour and orientation of our four installations
    Would you like to learn the difference between the Post Office and Mail Rooms? Have you had a chance to visit your Soldier’s unit Headquarters? Would you like to know where just about everything you need on each of the 4 posts in Schweinfurt is? If the answer is yes join us for this program. We will tour each of the posts and help you understand what services are available where. We will be using our great Shuttle bus, so be sure you have you ID card with you.

Subjects include: Exchange rates, Credit and Debit card use on the economy, standing payment and direct debit payment systems, sales tax’ contracts, phone bills, financial pitfalls and helpful German phrases.
