"We catch a glimpse of a huge swirl of clouds out the window over the middle of the Pacific Ocean, or the boot of Italy jutting down into the Mediterranean, or the brilliant blue coral reefs of the Caribbean strutting their beauty before the stars. And...we experienced those uniquely human qualities: awe, curiosity, wonder, joy, amazement." (Russell L. Schweickart, Apollo Astronaut ("The Home Planet")

Search Camera File Nadir

This tool is for searching the nadir data from uncataloged digital camera images. Digital cameras generate a camera file for each picture they take. We take these camera files and generate nadir data from them, which includes sub-orbital coordinates of the spacecraft at the time the photograph was taken as well as some information about the sun's location. After the photographs are cataloged, this nadir information is added, along with the cataloged information, to the main table of the database. On a daily basis, code is run to search the database table where this pre-cataloged nadir information is stored and clean it of records that have been cataloged.

The accuracy of the nadir information is largely dependent on the accuracy of the time setting of the camera since that time is used to determine the spacecraft's position.

Mission:
Photo Start Date (YYYYMMDD): Photo End Date (YYYYMMDD):
If the start date is filled in and the end date is left blank, then only photos on the start date will be returned.

Photo Start Time (HHMMSS): Photo End Time (HHMMSS):
If the either time is filled in then both times must be filled in.

Nadir Latitude: Nadir Longitude: Delta from Nadir Point: degrees
Minimum Sun Elevation Angle: degrees Camera search string:

Minimum focal length: mm Maximum focal length: mm
If the minimum is filled in but the maximum is left blank then only the minimum will be used
