About

Welcome to USAID/Haiti’s website.  Here you can find important information about the U.S. Government’s work to help Haiti recover and rebuild from the devastating January 12, 2010, earthquake, stay informed with updates on our programs, and learn how to get involved with our recovery and development efforts.

The United States has a long history of extending a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country. It is this caring that stands as a hallmark of the United States around the world, and shows the world our true character as a nation.
Through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. works to achieve the goals of furthering America's foreign policy interests in expanding democracy and free markets while improving the lives of the citizens of the developing world.

USAID has been on the ground in Haiti and working to help the people of Haiti improve their social and economic wellbeing for almost 50 years.   After the earthquake, the U.S. Government increased its assistance, committing to a long-term partnership to help the nation recover and rebuild.

Together with the people and Government of Haiti and the international community, we are helping Haiti build back better.
