National Defense University Cadets Battushig and Bayarsaikhan Visit West Point

This year’s exchange of cadets, the third Foreign Academy Exchange Program (FAEP) between the United States Military Academy at West Point and the National Defense University (NDU) of Mongolia, was sponsored by the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).

Mongolia’s National Defense University hosted two cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point from March 14 – March 19.  While attending NDU, Cadets James Baldwin and Franklin Shuler participated in classes, observed a wreath-laying ceremony on Sukhbaatar Square, and visited numerous cultural sites in and around Ulaanbaatar.  Cadets Baldwin and Shuler had the opportunity to host Cadets  B. Battushig and O. Bayarsaikhan during Mongolia’s reciprocal visit to the United States Military Academy from April 3 – April 12.

Although West Point rotates slots for this program annually and did not fund Mongolia’s participation in the program this year, USARPAC stepped in to fully fund this year's exchange.  USARPAC’s support to this critical exchange demonstrates its firm commitment to supporting one of Mongolia’s top defense reform goals- strengthening institutional and personnel development.
