Hensarling Statement Honoring the Legacy of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.
WASHINGTON --House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) today issued the following statement honoring the life and legacy of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Today we honor the memory of one of our nation’s most dynamic leaders in the struggle for civil rights and remember his dedication to fulfilling the dream of equality and racial harmony.
“His eloquent and optimistic words not only helped change the laws of our country, but also changed the hearts and minds of people everywhere.
“At one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, Dr. King’s unwavering belief in human dignity and nonviolence led us toward a freer society and greater respect for all Americans regardless of race, religion or ethnic origin.
“As we celebrate his legacy today, Dr. King’s spirit is still with us, uniting and inspiring all Americans toward the dream of freedom and equality for all.”
