2/5/2013 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- In times of tight budgets, many members of the Hanscom community may be interested to know that they can get a free ride to Logan International Airport for official travel. A shuttle bus service is available, by reservation, Monday through Friday, from 6:15 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In order to schedule a ride and book a return trip, travelers may visit the updated EShuttle web page on HanscomNet. The 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron offers this web-based application for the purposes of official travel, such as temporary duty requirements and permanent change of station.

The web-based application allows travelers to choose from ten different rides a day, thanks to a modified shuttle bus service schedule. Rides are offered weekdays, except on holidays, at 6:15, 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m., as well as at 12:30, 2, 3:30, 5, 6:15 and 8 p.m.

Besides being able to choose from ten different times, there are also various pick-up points on base. They include: Stop 1E - Building 1614 East; Stop 1W - Building 1614 West; Stop 2 - Building 1606; Stop 3 - at the catwalk between Buildings 1624 and 1630 then at the front entrance to Building 1630; Stop 4 - at the front of Building 1600; Stop 5 - at base pool parking lot; Stop 6 - Building 1103 (old AFRL Library) TDY parking lot; Stop 7 - Building 1305; and Stop 8 - base lodging. After the eighth stop, the shuttle takes off to Logan through Gate 4.

Prior to scheduling a shuttle ride, travelers must fax their official orders to 781-225-2527.

Travelers can make their reservations online by visiting HanscomNet, clicking on the "Quick links" tab at the top of the home page, then choosing letter "E." Users will then see the link to "EShuttle (Hanscom AFB)."

Travelers can look ahead two months and plan accordingly by selecting the date, time and stop from there.

When the orders are faxed to 66 LRS, Vehicle Operations, the reservation will be confirmed via email. Once the confirmation is received, travelers may then select their return trip from Logan to Hanscom.

There also is other information posted on the top of the EShuttle main page, such as shuttle stop locations on base, Logan terminals, airline locations, frequently asked questions and telephone numbers.

LRS officials encourage Team Hanscom members to help make this service work by taking the shuttle to the best of their ability and scheduling accordingly.

In the event changes or updates are needed, those using the service may contact Vehicle Operations Dispatch at 781-225-5830 to inform LRS of the updates.

Additionally, a base only taxi service operates around base and is available to all personnel conducting official business. For example, people who carpool to work may want to use the taxi to go to and from meetings in different buildings.

The taxi runs Monday through Friday during normal business hours. To schedule a pickup, call Vehicle Operations Dispatch at 781-225-5830.
