FURNISHINGS MANAGEMENT

We would like to welcome you to Misawa AB and hope that your tour will be enjoyable and rewarding. We are eager to deliver and set up all the furniture you will need for your time here. The furniture and appliances at this location have been specifically chosen to fit comfortably in each type of housing unit found on and off base.

Planning Your Move to Misawa AB with Furniture

Entitlements
Misawa AB authorizes full weight entitlements for all accompanied military and DoD personnel. Unaccompanied members E5 and above, including DoD personnel are authorized full weight entitlements. Members in grades E1 - E4 unaccompanied have restricted weight allowance and are required to reside in a fully furnished dormitory room. Knowing your weight entitlement is very important. With this entitlement, government furniture support is on a loaner basis only for 90 days in/out or until arrival of your household goods. Loaner furniture consists of living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture.

Contractors and technical representative personnel are NOT authorized FMO support. Please get with your company to make arrangements for appliances/furnishings support.

Storage
Temporary storage facilities are not available at Misawa AB or in the local community. Members with full weight entitlements must bring their essential household goods; i.e. living room set (couch, chair, coffee table, end table, lamps), dining room sets (table and chairs), and bedroom sets (bed, dresser or chest, night stand, lamps) while storing non-essential furnishing items in Non Temporary Storage (NTS) stateside.

Basic support items provided for the duration of a member's tour include a stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer and adapters/transformers for both on-base and off-base (local economy) housing.

Inbound personnel should be cautioned against shipping everything they own. Government and local economy housing are generally smaller compared to those in the United States. Personnel will not be able to keep furnishings (excluding basic support items listed above) for the duration of their tour. Furnishing entitlements are based on your orders and we do not provide furnishings to support visitors or house guests.

INBOUND PERSONNEL SHOULD NOT SHIP MAJOR APPLIANCES, KING-SIZE OR CALIFORNIA KING BEDS. Make arrangements to procure an adequate bed set to ship with household goods.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SHIPMENT INCLUDE: Large German shrunks, Jacuzzi, upright/deep freezers, waterbed, large antique furniture, curio style grandfather clock, oversized china cabinet, oversized wall units or wall to wall entertainment centers, oversized sectional sofa and oversized desk. Outdoor or patio furniture should not be shipped if Tower housing is preferred.
