Privatized Housing Unaccompanied Housing Housing in the Local Community

Housing in the Local Community
The Housing Management Office (HMO) provides all DoD personnel with personalized services to assist in locating suitable housing in the local community. Although moving is sometimes stressful, it can also be an exciting opportunity to live off base and experience a new location. The HMO will assist you every step of the way to help you find your new home in the local community.

Housing Services
Contact the Keesler HMO at DSN 591-8615 or COMM (228) 376-8615 as soon as you know you are moving. The government housing team will provide you the latest information on the local housing situation and offer complete referral services and relocation assistance to make sure you find a quality place to live.

Support services range from helping members understand their lease agreements and the necessity for a military release clause to assisting in resident and landlord dispute resolution, among many others.

The HMO partners with landlords, realtors and property managers to make sure you receive the most current information about the local housing market. The HMO also monitors housing units offered for rent to the military community, which are listed in the Automated Housing Referral Network (AHRN), a joint service, DoD-sponsored website that offers a 24/7/365 single source of available housing to incoming military personnel and their families.

Go to AHRN.com and create a personal account to view available housing in the size, style and type that will meet your needs. Information is provided on privatized housing, rental houses and apartments available in the local community. The listings provide contact information for the landlord or property manager so you can connect with them to discuss available units. Contact the HMO prior to making any firm commitments.

Rental Partnership Program
At Keesler AFB, the HMO supports the Rental Partnership Program to help military members obtain adequate housing in the community. The HMO and local landlords enter into agreements to offer service members special rental benefits above what other tenants receive. Benefits include a waiver of security and utility deposits plus no credit checks or application fees (a pet fee or deposit may be charged). Contact the HMO for more information about this program.

Community Housing Units
There is abundant rental housing available in the community around Keesler AFB that is within the commuting area. Options for houses range from older, well-maintained, two-bedroom "shotgun" homes up to brand new five-bedroom executive homes. Apartments range from economy units up to three-bedroom luxury units with amenities such as beautiful landscaping, pools, fitness rooms, etc. Luxury condo units with ocean views, tennis courts, spas, boat slips, etc are also available.

For information about the housing allowances that financially support your move, see Referral and Relocation Assistance.

Personal Property Insurance
You need to obtain legal liability and personal property insurance for your possessions and should choose the options and amounts that best fit your needs and lifestyle. Before purchasing your insurance, please consult the HMO for more information about coverage.

School Information
For families, we understand that where your children attend school plays a large factor in the decision of where to live. Contact the Keesler School Liaison Office at (228) 376-8505 (DSN 591-8505) or the HMO for information on local schools.

For your convenience, all community housing listings in the Automated Housing Referral Network site (AHRN.com) include a link to schools in the area surrounding the listed house.
