Presidio of Monterey Specialist wins 2012 Operation Rising Star

Georgia Army National Guard Spc. Constance Mack, representing the Presidio of Monterey, Calif., won the 2012 Operation Rising Star military singing contest at Fort Sam Houston Theatre here, Dec. 15.

Belas Hall evaluated for 2013 Connelly Award

The Presidio's Belas Hall Dining Facility was visited by representatives of the International Food Service Executives Association on Oct. 19 to perform an evaluation after designating the dining facility a finalist in the Garrison "Civilian-Operated" category to receive the 2013 Philip A. Connelly Award for Excellence in Food Service.

Presidio Marine selected DOD military linguist of year

One Marine student here was recently recognized as the Department of Defense Language Professional of the Year. The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center student, Marine Sgt. Zachary Coates, is a Middle East Cryptologic Linguist who hails, from Kansas City, Kan.

Monterey military, local schools partnership receives award

The Monterey Military Community was recently recognized for its education partnership with Monterey area schools June 28, 2012. During the recent Military Child Education Coalition National Training Seminar in Texas, recipients of the Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award program were formally recognized.

Presidio Legal Assistance Team Receives Army Chief of Staff Award

For the third year in a row, the Presidio of Monterey’s Legal Assistance Office has received the Army Chief of Staff Award for Excellence in Legal Assistance in the active Army, medium office category. A total of nine Army offices received the award in this category for fiscal year 2010.

Presidio of Monterey recognized during Army Communities of Excellence ceremony

The Army recognized the Presidio of Monterey's excellence during an awards ceremony April 18 in San Antonio. Katherine Hammack, assistant secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, and Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, commanding general of the Installation Management Command, presented to Presidio Garrison leaders Col. Darcy A. Brewer and Command Sgt. Maj. Olga Martinez, and other garrison representatives, three Army-level awards during the Army Communities of Excellence ceremony.

Presidio of Monterey wins quality-of-life award

U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey earned the Superior Quality of Life Award for a small unit or installation for successfully teaming with a local mass transportation company, Monterey Salinas Transit, under the Mass Transportation Benefit Program and the Transportation Incentive Program.

DPW employee recognized as ‘Unsung Hero’

Rearick's award was based in part on having volunteered more than 1,000 hours of her personal time to assist in family housing events hosted by RCI partners, which include the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Defense Commissary Agency, Army Community Service, the Presidio Chaplains Office and the Presidio Mayoral Program.

Presidio's ACS wins commendations in accreditation study

Presidio Garrison Commander Col. Darcy A. Brewer was notified July 15 that the Presidio's ACS has been recommended for full accreditation with commendations following a thorough inspection of its operations by its higher headquarters, the Installation Management Command.

Presidio dining facility advances to finals of Connelly Award

In July, 2010 the Presidio's Food Service management team was notified that its Belas facility is one of six finalists for the Connelly Award in the "small garrison" dining facility category, a category for facilities that serve an average of 300 or fewer diners per meal.
