About This Site

The Hispanic Child Support Resource Center has a special purpose—you can use it to make life better for Hispanic children in your neighborhood who have single parents.

How? By promoting the benefits of child support.

Child support can be an enormous help to single parents who cannot afford to feed, clothe, or care for their children properly. Yet many in the Hispanic community do not receive child support because they do not know it exists—or because they fear it.

While child support collection has been on the rise overall, these rates have not kept pace in the Hispanic population.

Consider these statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau report Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2003:

  • Hispanic custodial parents have some of the lowest rates of child support agreements.
  • Only 49 percent had child support awards or agreements in 2003.
  • Of those, only 45 percent received all payments due.

The Hispanic Child Support Resource Center will help you and others reach out to those parents with a message of hope. This toolkit also will enable you to identify partners and funders who can assist you in sharing the benefits of child support with the Hispanic community.
