Division of Commissioned Corps Recruitment

Commissioned Corps Application Process Change: Focus on Existing Applicant Pool

Throughout 2011, the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) has received overwhelming interest in career opportunities with the Commissioned Corps. We are currently working with over 1,200 applicants. For background information, please click on the “Application Process Changes” document below. The Corps anticipates applications for some professions will be opened as early as mid-year 2013. Please listen to the audio file for periodic updates as there will be a new one the first week of each month beginning in February. Additionally, the Division of Commissioned Corps Personnel and Readiness (DCCPR) Director is implementing application process changes to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the process with an emphasis on improved customer service for applicants and the Agencies we serve.

To manage the current volume of applications amidst organizational and process changes, beginning January 1, 2012—and until further notice—we will focus our efforts on professions (e.g. physicians and dentists), groups and positions of identified need. For further information as to the professions of current need and frequently asked questions (FAQ’s), please read the Application Process Changes document. In addition, a short audio recording with Commissioned Corps application process change information is available (Script).

Please give us a call at 1-800-279-1605 if you have questions about the information provided or your eligibility to apply at this time.
