On Sunday, August 10, the new U.S. Ambassador to Paraguay, Liliana Ayalde, arrived in Asuncion. Upon her arrival, she thanked the numerous radio, television, and press journalists for their warm welcome at Silvio Peterrossi International Airport.

On Monday, August 11, Ambassador Ayalde presented her letter of credentials, accrediting her as Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Government of the Republic of Paraguay.

This letter of credentials was presented to outgoing Paraguayan President, Nicanor Duarte Frutos after a prior meeting at the Paraguayan National Chancellery with outgoing Minister of Foreign Relations, Ruben Ramirez-Lezcano.  Ambassador Ayalde then went to the “Panteón Nacional de los Héroes” where she laid a wreath in honor of Paraguay’s national heroes.
