Senior-Level Obama Official Recognized for Community Involvement
WASHINGTON – Francisco Sánchez, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, has been selected by his hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers to receive the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. The Buccaneers will honor Sánchez during its September 25 game with the Atlanta Falcons.
The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation have partnered to launch the award during the 2011 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The award recognizes the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each of the NFL’s 32 markets.
“I am extremely proud and honored to receive this award from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, the NFL, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Sanchez said. “The Tampa community has always been important to me and my family.”
Sánchez was appointed by President Obama to serve as Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
