Commerce Department Official to Lead 14 Companies on Transportation and Energy Infrastructure Trade Mission to Qatar and United Arab Emirates
WASHINGTON –Francisco Sánchez, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, today announced that he will lead a U.S. trade delegation to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), October 30-November 3, to promote U.S. goods, services, and technologies in the multi-modal transportation and infrastructure sectors. Representatives from 14 U.S.-based companies along with the U.S. Department of Transportation will join Sánchez on the mission.
“This region is growing rapidly and has large amounts of money to spend on infrastructure, transportation, energy, and telecommunications,” Sánchez said. “This mission will enable U.S. companies to compete for opportunities to sell their products and services in Qatar and the U.A.E., helping their companies grow and create jobs here at home.”
The trade mission advances President Obama’s National Export Initiative which aims to double U.S. exports by the end of 2014, supporting economic and job growth. The business delegation will have an opportunity to promote multimodal transportation systems, products, and technologies; energy products and services; smart grid technologies; and mass transportation systems with foreign businesses, buyers, and governments.
Participants will visit three of the region’s key metropolitan centers – Doha, Qatar; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, U.A.E. The mission will provide U.S. participants with first-hand market information and access to government decision makers. U.S. companies will be introduced to distributors, public and private buying agents and other potential business partners.
