WASHINGTON – Statement from Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez on the celebration of National Small Business Week, May 23-29, 2010:
“The American economy is supported by businesses of all sizes, yet there is no doubt that small and medium-sized businesses hold the key to our economic vitality. As our nation celebrates National Small Business Week, the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration stands ready to help small businesses explore opportunities in the global marketplace.
“With more than 95 percent of the world’s potential consumers living beyond our borders, exporting products and services can open up new options our small businesses’ financial success. ITA has commercial experts in 128 countries committed to helping small businesses achieve their dreams.
“Throughout the month of May, ITA’s celebration of World Trade Month has highlighted the resources available to help all businesses – large and small – to capitalize on the benefits of exporting. We look forward to continuing our efforts to promote the power of exporting.”
