Senate Unanimously Confirms FranCisco J. SÁnchez as Under Secretary Of Commerce for International Trade
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Francisco J. Sánchez as Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade by unanimous vote. Sánchez received a recess appointment earlier this year by President Barack Obama. He directs the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA), the premiere resource for American companies competing in the global marketplace.
Under the leadership of Sánchez, ITA plays a significant role in reaching the National Export Initiative goal to double exports over the next five years, supporting millions of American jobs. President Obama released an Executive Order for the National Export Initiative (NEI) in March 2010, identifying ITA as a key bureau to the program’s success.
“In a changing economy, exports will generate manufacturing and service sector jobs, and will put the U.S. economy on a path of strong, sustainable growth,” Sánchez said. “I plan to leverage commercial diplomacy tools to expand exports and to create and sustain jobs in America.”
