Commerce Under Secretary to Lead Trade Mission to Saudi Arabia and Qatar
Mission Targets Lucrative Public Health Sectors
WASHINGTON – Commerce Under Secretary for International Trade Francisco Sanchez announced today he will lead 11 U.S. companies on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, June 5-10, 2010. The mission will focus on public health and water and waste management sectors in the Middle East markets.
“Increasing populations and rapid urbanization are creating strong demand for healthcare and water and waste management,” Sanchez said. “Saudi Arabia and Qatar are upgrading and expanding hospitals and increasing the focus on healthcare for their populations. This is an opportune time for U.S. companies to introduce their products, technologies, and services to important potential clients.”
The trade mission advances President Obama’s National Export Initiative which aims to double U.S. exports within five years, supporting economic and job growth. The business delegation will have an opportunity to promote equipment, services, and technologies in a range of public health and waste management sectors with foreign businesses, buyers, and governments.
The following companies were selected for participation in the trade mission:
1) CDM, Inc. – Cambridge, Mass.
2) DemeTech Corporation – Miami, Fla.
3) Headworks BIO, Inc. – Houston, Texas
4) HKS, Inc. – Dallas, Texas
5) ITT Water and Wastewater – White Plains, N.Y.
6) Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch – San Francisco, Calif.
7) Numotech, Inc. – Northridge, Calif.
8) Patient Education Institute – Coralville, Iowa
9) SSWIFT USA Ltd. – Charlotte, N.C.
10) Sylvan Source – San Carlos, Calif.
11) Ted Jacob Engineering Group, Inc. – Oakland, Calif.
The United States is the largest exporter of goods and services to both Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In 2009, U.S. exports to Saudi Arabia totaled $10.8 billion, and exports to Qatar topped $2.7 billion.
Participants will visit three of the region’s key metropolitan centers – Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and Doha, Qatar. U.S. companies will be introduced to distributors, public and private buying agents and other potential business partners.
