COMMERCE TRADE OFFICIAL PROMOTES FRANCHISING AS TOOL FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH ACROSS NORTH AMERICA
ATLANTA – Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez today announced a new franchising partnership between the United States and Brazil – the leading franchising economies in the Western Hemisphere. Sánchez delivered remarks before public and private sector attendees at a panel discussion on Partnerships for Competitiveness as part of the Americas Competitiveness Forum in Atlanta.
“This partnership will increase trade in services for both the U.S. and Brazil,” Sánchez said. “It will increase investment, create jobs, and potentially develop a successful franchising market entry model for the Western Hemisphere to adopt.”
Sánchez identified four areas where the U.S. and Brazilian governments, the International Franchise Association and the Associação Brasileira de Franchising are working together on a multiple phase strategy which include:
- Introducing franchisors to the partner market;
- Identifying challenges to competitiveness;
- Facilitating market access; and,
- Increasing trade in services, investment, and jobs.
