Senior Commerce Official to Lead Automotive Parts and Components Trade Mission to Russia
WASHINGTON – U.S. Commerce Department Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Michelle O’Neill today announced she will lead an automotive parts and components trade mission to Russia, April 23-27. Representatives from 12 U.S. automotive manufacturing and service companies that supply parts and environmental solutions ranging from fenders, gaskets, and induction heating system, to emission reduction, leak testing, and engineering design will visit Moscow, Samara, and St. Petersburg, in order to meet with potential buyers to increase exports.
“Russia is the fastest-growing automotive market in Europe,” O’Neill said. “This important trading partner offers lucrative opportunities for U.S. auto parts and components manufacturers.”
In 2010, vehicles sales in Russia grew 30 percent, and are expected to continue at approximately 15 percent per year through 2015. American automotive icons Ford and General Motors have taken notice of the Russian automotive market’s potential for significant growth and established assembly plants to meet the increasing Russian demand for high quality automobiles. As Russian and international original equipment manufacturers ramp up production to meet growing demand for quality cars, there are significant opportunities for U.S. parts and component manufacturers to enter this important marketplace and expand exports.
The following companies were selected for participation in the trade mission:
- Bushwacker, Inc. – Portland, Ore.
- Camaco LLC – Novi, Mich.
- Cincinnati Test Systems, Inc. – Cleves, Ohio
- Cyclo Industries, Inc. – Jupiter, Fla.
- Dana Holding Corporation – Maumee, Ohio
- Designetics, Inc. – Corona, Calif.
- Fluxtrol, Inc. – Auburn Hill, Mich.
- Hoosier Gasket Corporation – Indianapolis, Ind.
- Inductoheat, Inc. – Madison Heights, Mich.
- Keystone Automotive Operations, Inc. – Exeter, Pa.
- Swift Engineering, Inc. – San Clemente, Calif.
- Warren Distribution, Inc. – Omaha, Neb.
This trade mission advances President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI), which aims to double U.S. exports by the end of 2014, supporting economic and job growth, and is a deliverable for the Bilateral Presidential Commission’s Business Development and Economic Relations Working Group. It also will help U.S. companies already doing business in Russia increase their current level of exports and deepen their business interests.
Participating firms will gain market insights, make industry contacts, solidify business strategies, and advance specific projects with the goal of increasing U.S. exports to Russia. The mission will include one-on-one business appointments with pre-screened potential buyers, agents, distributors, and joint venture partners; meetings with regional government officials; and networking events.
